It all started, some time ago, in small town Louisiana...
I guess the best way to do this is in some sort of harmless survey...
Name: ...You can call me Ms. Bellon
Nickname: ...again, you can call me Ms. Bellon (maybe you can call me Ms. B)
Degrees: BA, English (Concentration in Literature), Louisiana State University, 2004
M.Ed., Curriculum and Instruction (Concentration in Secondary English Education), Louisiana State University, 2006
Years taught: This year makes lucky number 7.
Courses/Responsibilities For This Year: English 1, Pre-AP English 1, Sub-Varsity Cheerleading Coach
Hometown: Kinder, Louisiana (a small town with a very large casino).
Hobbies: Travel, photography, concerts, cooking, film, writing, and Friday Night Trivia.
Any animals?: I have two maladjusted yet lovable dogs (Nadia and Sasha), and the two laziest cats alive (Inigo and Nick).
Favorite Books: Even Cowgirls Get The Blues, by Tom Robbins; A Confederacy of Dunces, by John Kennedy Toole
Best Class I've Ever Taken: In my undergrad years, I took a course called "The History of the World Since 1960." It was taught by an ex-CIA covert operations officer. The man knew too much, and his stories were fascinating.
Why Teaching?: It combines some of my favorite things. I love talking about literature and writing, and I love interacting with different kinds of people.
If I Wasn't A Teacher, I Would Be A: College professor or researcher
What I Like About Teaching: The kids. It doesn't matter how crazy they get or if they forget their homework now and then... When I see a kid give their best effort, that's golden. I live for it.
What I Expect From My Students: I expect for them to work hard and respect each other and their environment. I expect them to ask for help. I expect for them to persevere, even when the work is tough. ...I expect a lot, but only because I am willing to work for them in return.
