Apparently, there are two "Number 4"s on the test...  My error, my apologies.  The question regarding the servants has been eliminated.  To reduce confusion, I have uploaded the edited version of the test.

Here it is.

For the essay choices, can we choose either Rome or Juliet for #1?

You can either answer them point by point, in complete sentences, or in paragraph form. Paragraph form is good practice for the short answer questions on STAAR, since you have to discuss the significance of it.

Hey Ms. B,
for the multiple choice family tree thing, 59/60 says "servants"
does it matter which servant goes for 59 and which goes for 60?

No, I will hand grade those.

Again, no - I will hand grade those items.

Again, for the lit term items, you may use the answer choices more than once.

umm the essay has to be double spaced, so does that mean it should be a two paged essay???

It doesn't say how long the essay should be besides being four paragraphs so technically it could be 3.1415 pages if you wanted it to ;)

So we put the family tree on the scantron but you're grading all of it by hand or just the servants? Or the whole family tree?

Put the family tree on the scantron.

Remember, there are three total families. We know we have the Capulets and the Montagues: let's start with them.
First, there are the heads of the families. They are at the top of the tree.
Next, their only children.
Then, the servants - "the boys"
Last, there is the cousin of the child - linked to the lord's brother.

The other family has two members - one more closely aligned to the Capulets; the other is more closely aligned to the Montagues. Each branch on that tree leans towards the family that character is closest to.

Then, the individuals: we have two characters that stand alone, but have some allegiance to the famliies. The one closest to the Capulets has their own servant. The other tries to be unbiased, but shows to help out a member of the Montague family in many ways.

I hope this helps you navigate that. For those of you that needed the clearer picture of the family tree, look at the PDF file I posted this afternoon.

For the short answer, when you say to explain the quote in our own words, does that mean you want a side by side explanation, or just a general summary?

Lydia, just a general summary. I don't need a point-by-point summary.

I meant, I don't need a point-by-point translation.

ms. b, whats number 70s relationship to the montagues?

Remember that #70 isn't exactly related, but he helps out the Montagues in a big way. He tries to be neutral, but definitely shows some favor toward the Montagues.

To whoever "!" is, thank you. :)
And to ".......": She said that it was somebody who isn't related but is very close to them.

Ms B. How are we supposed to do parenthetical citation for the quotes in the essay?

Reply

Act, scene, lines. So, if from act 1, scene 5, lines 21-24...

(I.v.22-24)
